A careful, non-medical seven-day reset.
Begin with a real-life problem
A “dopamine reset” is sometimes described as clearing dopamine from the brain. That is neither possible nor desirable; dopamine is part of normal neurological function. A more responsible goal is to reduce high-frequency stimulation and help attention tolerate slower activities again.
Use seven days gently: map your triggers, disable push alerts, move entertainment apps away from the home screen, take a screen-free walk, complete one twenty-minute task, have one uninterrupted conversation, and review which boundaries deserve to remain.
Boredom or restlessness does not automatically mean the experiment failed. It may simply reveal the rhythm that constant stimulation was covering. Persistent low mood, anxiety, or symptoms that disrupt daily life deserve support from a qualified professional.
The goal is not to eliminate desire. It is to stop letting every desire choose your next move.
